Don't Smoke in Bed by Harry McDonald

VAULT Festival, Pit (2023)

'Director Joseph Winer has maximised the intimacy of the Pit by reconfiguring it into the round, somehow drawing us even closer into this world' (There Ought To Be Clowns)

'A beautifully directed play [...] Joseph Winer and Lu Herbert work together to create a visually stunning show '  (Theatre Full Stop)

“I’ve called him Mr Pandemonium. I didn’t know his name so I gave him one.”

When Jack returns home one night with a bloody face, he is forced to confront a frightening reality he thought he was immune from. His flatmate and best friend Molly thinks she knows what’s best, but Jack doesn’t want to deal with the issue head on. When he leans into a tortuous and self-destructive coping strategy, it threatens to destroy their friendship – and his relationship with boyfriend Ben.
